Vicious Pitbull In English Ridge / Resident and Dog Attacked
It has come to our attention that a pitbull or possibly a Presa Canario dog living at 6702 135th St., East in English Ridge broke out of the wooden fence surrounding it's property on January 23rd and attacked another resident and her dog. We understand the dog was injured but not severely. This is an ongoing situation that has been a problem in recent months and we're doing what we can to deal with the situation. If you live in the vicinity of 67th Avenue, East and 135th St. East, please pass the word and advise your neighbors of what's going on. The resident who was attacked has been advised to contact Pierce County Animal Control.
Meanwhile, some tips for you regarding vicious animals...
If you discover that there may be an issue with a vicious/dangerous animal in English Ridge, there are some steps you can take. First (for example), if it is something like a barking dog making excessive noise, try discussing it with the dog's owner first. If you don't feel comfortable doing that or you are unable to, contact Pierce County Animal Control. You should call them first, then once the dispatcher gives you a case number, you can download and fill out a complaint form. The phone number for P.C. Animal Control is (253)-798-PETS (7387). If you do file a report with Animal Control, please contact English Ridge's Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, John Lyman, so that we can keep track of what's going on. You can contact John via email at secretary@englishridge.org.
If you feel the situation is an immediate danger to yours or someone else's safety, don't wait to call Animal Control, call 911!
English Ridge Neighborhood Watch
The English Ridge community has started a great neighborhood watch program in 2011. We have a super core of neighbors heading up the neighborhood watch but we need more help. It takes very little commitment in terms of time to be involved.
We're currently building a neighborhood watch phone tree to help communicate and distribute "Need to know" items of importance within our community. If you'd like to take part, please call John Lyman at (253) 200-5625 or send him an email indicating your interest. All English Ridge residents (home owners and renters) are welcome to attend neighborhood watch meetings but it's not mandatory. What's needed more is residents in the community getting involved and watching out for each other.
The next neighborhood watch meeting will be January 14th, 2012. Please let us know in advance if you would like to attend.
